Probationary Status of Students

  1. Subject to the discretion of the Dean of the College of Law, a student shall ipso facto be on PROBATIONARY STATUS if his/her academic standing submits to any of the foregoing:

  • Two (2) Failure Rule – This rule applies to a law student who has received a second (2nd) failing mark or an INC on a subject he/she has taken for the second time in this institution, with the same subject code and description as the first.

  • Failure of Performance Rule – This rule applies to a law student who has enrolled in five (5) or more subjects and at least twelve (12) units in a single semester, and who received failing marks in majority or all of those subjects, Provided that the same shall apply to those who has enrolled in less than 5 subjects if he receives failing marks in ALL of the subjects, Providedfurther that an INC shall NOT be considered as a failing mark. This rule is without prejudice to the application of Section (a) hereof.

  1. The PROBATIONARY STUDENT shall be given another chance to enroll for the next semester, and maintain their eligibility to do so for the succeeding semesters to finish their degree in this institution, Provided that, failure of the probationary student to retain such eligibility will cause his/her name to be automatically dropped from the list of bona fide students of the College, and shall be refused admission or enrolment for the following semester; Provided further that, any leave of absence or non-enrolment in summer classes shall not in any way affect the status of a student on the last semester immediately preceding such absence.

  1. TRANSFEREES – Students accepted as transferees are required to maintain a subject load of fifteen (15) units and is required to pass all subjects enrolled in the current semester.

 

  1. These rules shall not in any way be retroactive, insofar as the student may or may have already been on PROBATIONARY STATUS as of its promulgation, unless the same is ratified by his/her performance in the semester immediately following the effectivity of these provisions.
